I hope more than anything that you won’t ever have to read this. That I can just… throw it into a fire, or leave it behind in the Manor when we leave. But the possibility exists that this will be read, and so I want to make sure you get it.
Please remember that whatever happened, I’m not really dead. I died and left a body, sure, but I live on in whatever box everyone is trapped in. Which means that, however things went down, unless I did something to make you hate me, I guess I could really use a superhero right about now. Marco taught me this earth song, Holding Out For a Hero? I guess I’ll be doing that, then. Just please… if you’re reading this before the trial, don’t attack the person responsible. Let Randall deal with them, I don’t need you down here too, much as I know I am going to miss you until I see you again. And know that I’m sorry. For leaving you like this, know that I didn’t want to.
In my room, you’ll find a few things I got from the machine, just… whatever you do, keep the jacket and the staff safe. Please. They’re all I have left of two of the bravest friends I’ve ever fought beside, and I never expected to see any of either of them again.
I love you. Being with you has made me happier than I have been in years, at least five of them. I know that might not seem like much from the woman whose life is basically a long string of tragedies, but I mean it when I say that you have become the best thing that ever happened to me. Please stay safe, and I’m sure I’ll see you again soon.
If you’re reading this, someone must have gotten the better of me. I hope it wasn’t Gaston, because neither of us would ever live that down. I can’t imagine what comes next after this, but I believe you will see everyone through. I know you will.
In the… continuing theme of me dying and leaving the Rebels with my effects, I want you to make sure to take the kyber crystal. Someone in your time will make much better use of it than a Death Star blast zone would. Not that I want to see you slack on getting the dead out of this box, but still. You should have it, in case optimism doesn't win in the end.
It doesn’t take someone who loves her as much as I do to know that Allene isn’t going to take this well. I don’t know how much can be done for her, but please try to keep her at least calm. As much as can be done, until I’m back with her.
